TEST RIDE AN RP SADDLE: Test Ride Policy

View saddles and options. We know how difficult it can be to choose a saddle. We also understand that the ReactorPanel saddle must be experienced to be appreciated. That's why we believe that you should only make such an important—and expensive—decision after thoroughly testing a saddle you're considering purchasing.

Since we won't sell a saddle without a successful trial, your first step is ordering a saddle for evaluation. We will do our best to supply your "dream" saddle, so if you decide to buy a ReactorPanel after you test ride the saddle, you can simply keep the one you have on hand.

Our saddle test ride policy is straightforward and, if you fit the saddle yourself, free (except for freight and insurance)*. While fitting does not require special skills, you need to be patient and enjoy working with your hands to be successful.

HOW DOES THE EVALUATION PROGRAM WORK?

ORDERING A TEST RIDE SADDLE

To fulfill your order, we need a completed Evaluation Agreement and tracings of your horse as specified in our Template Guide. Let us know if you need help choosing the model and your seat size.

MEASURING A HORSE FOR AN RP SADDLE

In the Template Guide, we ask for four photos of your horse. Below are samples of the photos we request.

Saddle fitting horses using flexicurve   The first photograph, taken from above the rear, reveals asymmetries.

To ensure proper saddle fit, measure over horse's withers for tracing A   This is Tracing A, which is essential for ordering a saddle

Saddles should fit your horse's individual conformation.   This is Tracing B.

WHEN WILL MY TEST SADDLE SHIP?

Evaluation saddles typically ship on the day your order is received. If we don't have an appropriate saddle in stock, we will inform you immediately. The typical wait to test ride a saddle is 10 days or fewer.

SADDLE FITTING

Fitting a ReactorPanel saddle does not require special skills, but it does require patience and a good eye for symmetry. If you will be fitting the saddle yourself, set aside a good block of time (at least two to three hours). We will provide unlimited telephone support for your fitting session and during your trial. If you would prefer to have fitting assistance, check to see if we have a Fitting Agent or upcoming Fitting Clinic near you.

TEST RIDING A SADDLE

Test ride the saddle thoroughly during your trial. If necessary, take it trail riding, to a lesson or clinic, or let others ride in it. We ask you to keep your initial test rides short for your horse's benefit, giving him time to get used to the freedom the saddle provides. If you believe you will need more than two weeks or want to compete in one of our saddles, call us to discuss your needs and options.

CONCLUDING THE SADDLE TRIAL

Our goal with the test ride period is your definitive "yes" or "no" decision about the saddle, so the test interval lasts two weeks, with minimal restrictions. After two weeks of test riding the saddle, you have several options:

  • Return the saddle
  • Buy the saddle
  • Convert your trial to a lease to confirm your decision

We try to make our evaluations hassle-free, and customers have found them easy and rewarding. We would be delighted to discuss your specific needs from a saddle. Please call (888-771-4402) or email info@reactorpanel.com with any detailed questions.

BUY A SADDLE

At ReactorPanel, we believe that you should never buy a saddle you haven't personally tested. Therefore, before you buy a ReactorPanel saddle, you must order a saddle for evaluation. If you haven't already done so, please read our Trial Policy.

Once you have successfully concluded your saddle trial, you may choose to purchase the saddle you've been test riding. If your test ride saddle was close but not ideal, we carry a large inventory and will probably be able to ship you a new saddle immediately. If you decide you would rather custom order (or if your horse has physical characteristics that make a custom tree necessary), our order package guides you through the process of configuring your custom saddle. (link to Custom Saddle Order) You will be able to choose every detail, from leather type and color to billet length. Custom saddles typically take 6-10 weeks to arrive in the U.S. from the factory in Walsall, England.
